The Opportunity

The School of Social Work in the Faculty of Health & Community Studies invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2025, subject to final approval. We seek candidates with expertise in teaching and practice of social work who can contribute to the academic and scholarly growth of the school.

You will teach courses in the BSW and social work diploma programs in the School of Social Work, developing and fostering connections in the community for field practicum placements and partnerships for scholarly activities. You are expected to be involved in scholarly activities to strengthen teaching and research in social work, demonstrating strong teaching skills, a commitment to the Social Work Code of Ethics, evidence of research and significant scholarly activity, and a willingness to engage in service to the school, university, and community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in the BSW and social work diploma programs in the School of Social Work
  • Supervise students' field practicum
  • Develop and foster connections in the community for field practicum placements and partnerships for scholarly activities
  • Be involved in scholarly activities to strengthen teaching and research in social work
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Social Work or related field
  • Strong teaching skills and experience in teaching adult learners
  • Experience in supervision and field education
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Social Work Code of Ethics
  • Evidence of research and significant scholarly activity
  • Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The university also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and extended health coverage, as well as a pension plan and other perks.
