Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist I to join our team at Eagle Ridge Hospital. As a key member of our Core Laboratory, you will be responsible for performing laboratory procedures and analyzing results to ensure accurate and timely patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain laboratory samples from patients and perform laboratory procedures according to established policies and procedures.
- Analyze results and provide accurate and timely reporting to healthcare teams.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, including calibration and maintenance.
- Respond to requests and inquiries for test results and provide excellent customer service.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare teams and provide education on laboratory results and procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory results and procedures.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure smooth operation of the laboratory.
Requirements
- Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
- One year recent related experience in the designated discipline within the last six years, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory procedures and technical competence to perform tests used in the assigned section of the laboratory.
- Basic awareness of research process.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
- Basic knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
