Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technologist II to join our team at the Core Lab, Eagle Ridge Hospital. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, including routine and additional procedures, to ensure accurate and timely results.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and additional laboratory tests and procedures, following established departmental procedures.
- Collect and process specimens from inpatients and outpatients, ensuring accurate and timely results.
- Perform maintenance on related equipment and report any malfunctions to the Section Head.
- Compile statistics and reports as required, ensuring accurate and timely data.
- Ensure quality control standards are met, reporting any issues to the Section Head.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Assist with the orientation of new staff members, providing guidance and support as needed.
Requirements
- Graduate of a recognized school of Medical Technology, plus a minimum of one year's recent, related experience.
- Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Certified.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to facilitate positive change and adapt to new procedures and technologies.
- Ability to organize workload assignments and set priorities, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Ability to develop and present educational material, with excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to operate related equipment, with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, with a strong commitment to safety and well-being.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities, with familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
