Medical Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technologist to join our team at the Multi Functional Core Lab at Eagle Ridge Hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain laboratory samples from patients as required.
- Perform laboratory procedures and analyze results according to established policies.
- Prepare solutions, reagents, standards, and controls for use in analysis, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Respond to test result requests and inquiries by various methods, as required by standard operating procedures.
- Communicate test results to the appropriate parties, including designated members of other health teams.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance, including setup, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instruments. Identify and report equipment malfunctions.
- Assist in evaluating technical procedures and providing input in the development and maintenance of policy procedures for assigned work areas.
- Participate in departmental training and orientation programs by demonstrating established laboratory procedures.
- Assist with information management, such as gathering information, completing analysis, and recording information.
- Maintain inventory of supplies by identifying depleting stock, notifying personnel, and completing requisitions.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, according to established policies and procedures.
- Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
- One year of recent related experience in the designated discipline within the last six years, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated recent working knowledge of the assigned section or sections.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory procedures, and technical competence to perform tests used in the assigned section of the laboratory.
- Basic awareness of research processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
- Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care using point of care instrumentation.
- Ability to operate related equipment and software.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments.
