Job Overview
The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Processor to join its Student Housing & Community Services team. As an essential member of the SHCS Finance and Purchasing team, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payment processing for goods and services contracted by Food Services.
About the Role
This position involves working closely with multiple stakeholders, including suppliers, clients, and internal departments. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the department, ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately and efficiently. Your expertise in accounting principles and procedures will help prevent errors, resolve discrepancies, and maintain compliance with university policies and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable transactions (supplier, employee, and other) accurately and effectively
- Submit add or change requests relating to vendors
- Work closely with the SHCS Purchasing team to ensure proper purchasing procedures are followed per PO policy
- Support goals of the SHCS Purchasing team
- Act as the primary point of escalation for AP and vendor data issues for the department
- Interpret contract terms, university policies, procedures, guidelines, and governmental regulations as they relate to PO payments
- Audit and reconcile invoices paid to vendor statements, working with suppliers and management to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices and credits
- Assist in gathering information for month-end reporting
- Resolve issues assigned to them within the agreed-upon time limit
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have a high school graduation plus two-year post-secondary diploma in accounting or equivalent experience. Additionally, you should possess:
- Three years of relevant accounting experience
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Experience with computerized accounting and procurement systems, such as Workday and Optimum Control, is preferred
Salary and Benefits
The estimated annual salary for this position is $65,000 - $75,000, depending on experience. The University of British Columbia offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a generous pension plan and paid time off.
