About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applied Scientist to join our team at Thomson Reuters Labs in Toronto. As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will be part of a global interdisciplinary team of experts, working on cutting-edge AI research and development projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the end-to-end model development lifecycle, championing best practices to ensure reproducible research and well-managed software delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share information, value diverse ideas, and partner effectively with colleagues across the globe.
  • Translate complex business problems into projects with clearly defined scope, and be accountable for timely, well-managed deliverables.
  • Innovate and try new approaches, learning new technologies to solve real-world challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, inspiring and leading the way in the adoption of AI across the enterprise.
About You

We're looking for a candidate with a PhD in a relevant discipline or Master with a comparable level of experience. You should have at least 5 years of practical experience building NLP/IR/ML systems, from ideation to production, and solid software engineering skills for prototyping.

Preferred qualifications include 8 years of practical experience building IR, ML or NLP systems in academia or industry, and demonstrated ability to translate cutting-edge research into working prototypes and experiment with novel IR or NLP models to solve real-world problems.
