About the Opportunity

The City of St. John's is seeking a skilled Adult Music Educator to lead our Adult Fiddle programs. As a member of our Community Services team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering fiddle skills to adults in a group setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver fiddle programs for adults, including lesson planning and content development.
  • Consult with the Community Programs and Services-Adult & Seniors Coordinator to ensure program alignment and effectiveness.
  • Lead weekly programs in a direct leadership capacity, ensuring a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Request and maintain necessary supplies for the program.
  • Monitor and compile attendance records.

Requirements

  • Recognized training or experience in fiddle instruction.
  • Experience teaching fiddle programs in a group setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with adult populations.
  • Formal education with a diploma, certificate, or degree (an asset).

Additional Requirements

  • A current Criminal Record Screening Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the last six months of the start date).
  • Developing specific lesson plan content prior to the start of employment.

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work on a part-time basis, with a program schedule of Wednesdays from 1:30-2:30 pm weekly. The period of employment will be from September to June 2024.
