Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Ambulatory Clinics Appointment Coordinator to join our team at BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre in Vancouver, BC.

About the Role

This is a critical role that requires strong organizational and communication skills. As an Ambulatory Clinics Appointment Coordinator, you will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, receiving and registering patients, performing referral functions, and maintaining accurate records.

You will work closely with physicians, clinic nurses, and other allied health professionals to ensure seamless coordination of patient care. Your attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and ability to multitask will make you an invaluable asset to our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule patient appointments using a computerized scheduling system, ensuring efficient use of clinician time and minimizing wait times for patients.
  • Receive and register patients upon arrival, verifying demographic information and updating patient records as necessary.
  • Perform referral functions, including gathering additional information, data entry, and processing related paperwork, to facilitate timely referrals and optimize patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, utilizing software and tools to track patient demographics, appointment schedules, and billing information.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure effective communication and coordination of patient care, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
Requirements
  • Grade 12, plus two (2) years' recent experience in a similar role or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook, with experience in electronic medical records (EMRs) and practice management systems.
