Chief Investment Officer, Black Entrepreneurs Fund

We are seeking a seasoned executive to lead our Black Entrepreneurs Fund as Managing Director. This is a unique opportunity to join Banque de développement du Canada (BDC) and make a meaningful impact on the Canadian economy.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a comprehensive investment strategy and thesis for the deployment of $100M in equity capital to support black entrepreneurs in Canada.
- Oversee the investment activities and portfolio management of the fund, ensuring alignment with BDC's mandate and impact goals.
- Lead the execution of the fund's mandate, working closely with key partners, stakeholders, and the black community in Canada.
- Develop and maintain relationships with ecosystem partners, venture capitalists, accelerators, and incubators to drive program delivery and impact.
- Represent BDC in the ecosystem as part of the Impact Platform, promoting the fund's mission and goals.
- Ensure ongoing documentation management of portfolio companies, including financial reporting and compliance.
- Effectively manage internal and external service providers, including lawyers and consultants.
- Act as a strong liaison between VC teams, ecosystem teams, and other stakeholders across BDC to build a sustainable community for black entrepreneurs.
- Proven C-level executive experience in leading the development of a successful technology business from start-up to positive cash flow revenues or exit.
- Strong ecosystem experience working with venture capitalists, accelerators, or incubators to deliver programs to market in an agile environment.
- Served as a board director and management advisor with early-stage, emerging companies.
- Ability to characterize and quantify sector- and segment-specific industry risk factors.
- Current network within the marketplace that can be leveraged.
- Insight into financial data as it relates to company operations and lifecycle.
- Consistent monitoring and control of progress.
