About the Role:
The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) is seeking a seasoned investment leader to serve as the Managing Director of the Black Entrepreneurs Fund. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading financial institution and make a meaningful impact on the growth and development of the Black community in Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive investment strategy for the Black Entrepreneurs Fund, with a focus on identifying and supporting high-growth businesses led by Black entrepreneurs.
- Lead a team of investment professionals in sourcing, evaluating, and managing investments in Black-led companies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Black entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and ecosystem partners.
- Collaborate with BDC's Impact Platform to develop and implement initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Canadian business community.
- Provide thought leadership and expertise on investment trends and opportunities in the Black community.
Requirements:
- Proven track record of success in investment leadership roles, with a focus on venture capital, private equity, or impact investing.
- Strong network and relationships within the Black community and the Canadian business ecosystem.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to think strategically and make informed investment decisions.
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field, with an MBA or other graduate degree an asset.
