Job Title: Registered Veterinary Technician, Surgery Department

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team at 404 Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, collaborating with veterinary specialists, and contributing to the success of our hospital.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare anesthetic, surgical equipment, and operating theatres for surgery.
  • Perform pre-anesthetic patient evaluations and pre-operative diagnostics.
  • Provide analgesia, sedation, general anesthesia, and local/regional nerve blocks to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Monitor patients under sedation or general anesthesia to ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Assist in surgical procedures and endoscopic procedures with specialist veterinarians.
  • Prepare laboratory samples for testing and assist in client communication.
  • Supervise and teach technician assistants and practicum students.
Requirements:
  • Registered veterinary technician in Ontario.
  • Preference given to experienced RVTs, but motivated new graduates are also considered.
  • Experience in providing general anesthesia in dogs and cats for surgical, dental, or other procedures.
  • Experience using common monitoring equipment and medications.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to continuing education in surgery, anesthesia, and analgesia.
