Job Title: Head of Voice Department

The Victoria Conservatory of Music is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our Voice Department as Head of Voice. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of music educators and performers who are dedicated to providing exceptional music education and training to students of all ages.

About the Role:

The Head of Voice will be responsible for leading and managing the Voice Department, including the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives. This will involve working closely with the Dean and other members of the Artistic Directorate Committee to ensure that the department is aligned with the Conservatory's overall strategic plan.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in vocal pedagogy and performance, with experience in teaching and mentoring students of all ages and skill levels. They will also have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of faculty members and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Voice Department, including the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with the Dean and other members of the Artistic Directorate Committee to ensure that the department is aligned with the Conservatory's overall strategic plan.
  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives to promote the development of vocal pedagogy and performance within the department.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to faculty members and staff, including mentoring and coaching to support their professional development.
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams within the Conservatory to ensure that the Voice Department is integrated into the overall music education and training programs.
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget, including ensuring that all financial resources are used effectively and efficiently.
  • Represent the Voice Department at Conservatory events and meetings, including the Artistic Directorate Committee and other relevant committees.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Music or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in vocal pedagogy and performance, with a strong background in teaching and mentoring students of all ages and skill levels.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of faculty members and staff.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others, including faculty members, staff, and students.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
