Job Summary

The Victoria Conservatory of Music invites applications for the Head of Voice position within the Ann & George Nation Conservatory School of Classical Music. The successful candidate will be a well-established vocal pedagogue, performer, and collaborator with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the operations of the voice department and delivery of all programs.
  • Provide artistic leadership for the Voice Collegium and other integrated programs.
  • Attend and contribute to the Artistic Directorate Committee meetings.
  • Schedule and chair regular faculty meetings for the Voice Department Faculty.
  • Organize and coordinate annual song competitions and end of term recitals.
  • Manage the scheduling and payment for department-related accompanist services.
  • Act as liaison between CSCM Voice Faculty and VCM Administration.
  • Mitigate Instructor – Student/Parent disagreements.
  • Administer the Faculty Teaching Assessment Program.
  • Provide guidance to Voice Faculty regarding professional development opportunities.
  • Manage the recruitment of new instructors.
  • Refers new students to voice faculty in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Administer the Voice Department budget.

The Victoria Conservatory of Music is a non-profit, charitable organization located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It operates a performing arts complex in downtown Victoria with three performance halls and 50+ studios and classrooms, serving its community of over 4,500 students and music therapy clients of all ages.
