About the Position

This role plays a key part in enhancing the Faculty of Engineering's award support for research. The successful candidate will work closely with the Faculty's senior leadership team to promote Engineering research consistent with the Faculty's strategic plan. Responsibilities include reviewing proposals prior to submission, ensuring compliance with University policy and Federal regulations, and managing applications that require ethics approval.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement standardized internal policies and business processes to maximize the operational effectiveness of the Faculty's research service provisions.
  2. Manage grant cycles, evaluate research performance, and provide strategic planning support to the Faculty and University senior leadership teams.
  3. Ensure compliance with University policies and procedures, including directorships, external reviews, reporting, funding, and the establishment of research chairs and core facilities.
  4. Manage Research Chair allocations, including planning, recruitment, and reporting.
  5. Collaborate with University offices to promote Faculty of Engineering priorities and ensure compatibility with University policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  6. Represent the Faculty of Engineering on committees focused on research, outreach, undergraduate research, and community engagement.
  7. Advise research proposal leaders on budget development, ensuring maximum research effectiveness and compliance with Faculty and University policies.
  8. Supervise Research Office staff and student employees.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a University degree in Business Administration or equivalent, with 5-7 years of relevant experience in an academic research environment. Experience developing applications for Canadian and provincial funding, administering complex projects, and working with diverse stakeholders is essential.

The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are also required.
