The Senior Manager, Global Employee and Labour Relations is a key role within Scotiabank, responsible for leading and overseeing the delivery of Employee Relations and Labour Relations activities within the region. This includes ensuring alignment with business strategies, plans, and initiatives, as well as compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee the delivery of Employee Relations and Labour Relations activities within the region.
- Ensure alignment with business strategies, plans, and initiatives.
- Comply with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to the success of the Global Labour Relations function at Scotiabank.
- Lead research and analysis of Labour Relations risk.
- Coordinate and amend labour mandates.
- Provide strategic advice on HR policy development.
- Lead, develop, and support the delivery of training and other tools for global labour relations practitioners.
- Post-secondary degree or college diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Employee/Labour Relations or Human Resources.
- Expert knowledge of employment law and labour law within various countries.
- Knowledge of negotiation and collective bargaining processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply sound judgement.
- Expert conflict and alternative dispute resolution skills.
- Experience managing and working with teams across locations and geographies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to multitask while remaining organized and meeting deadlines.
This role plays a key part in mitigating financial risk to the International Banking portfolio due to collective bargaining agreements and correlated labour costs.
As a Senior Manager, Global Employee and Labour Relations, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with internal and external partner groups, engage in preliminary negotiations and discussions with external legal counsel, and manage up to 7 direct reports.
You will also have the chance to work in a diverse and inclusive environment, with opportunities for professional growth and development.
