Job Summary

Mackenzie Health is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in providing high-quality patient care. As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering holistic, patient-centred care to patients within the scope of practice identified by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a workload effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibilities as needed.
  • Address and resolve issues in a productive, respectful manner, utilizing effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment, adhering to best practice guidelines and standards set by Mackenzie Health.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive environment for all, ensuring compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Practical Nurse Diploma from an approved nursing program, with a preference for recent graduates.
  • Current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario, with a requirement for recent completion of a physical assessment course.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, with a preference for experience working with electronic medical records.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English, with an ability to deliver information and work effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Member of the Registered Practical Nurses' Association of Ontario (RPNAO), with a preference for experience working with the elderly and acute and stroke rehab patients.
  • A minimum of 1 year recent nursing experience working as a Registered Practical Nurse in an acute care setting within the past 3 years, with a preference for experience working with electronic medical records.
