Job Summary

Mackenzie Health is seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team. As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care in an acute care setting, working collaboratively with our interprofessional team to deliver exceptional patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide holistic, patient-centered care to patients with complex care needs, utilizing evidence-based nursing practices and standards set by Mackenzie Health.
  • Manage workload effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibilities as needed.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive environment for all patients and staff, adhering to patient and staff safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional care team to develop and implement patient care plans, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, utilizing strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to the development of solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest nursing practices and technologies, participating in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Minimum of 1-year recent nursing experience working as a Registered Practical Nurse in an acute care setting within the past 3 years.
  • Enrolled in or successfully completed the IV Therapy Course.
  • Excellent clinical skills, including patient assessment, care planning, patient education, and documentation.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional team.
  • Computer proficiency with experience working with electronic medical records.
  • Familiarity with the Regulated Health Professions Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Practical Nurse Diploma from an approved nursing program.
  • Recent completion of a physical assessment course.
  • Member of the Registered Practical Nurses' Association of Ontario (RPNAO).
  • Ability to speak a second language.
  • Previous experience within the Registered Practical Nurse classification.
