About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Educator and Gerontology Specialist to join our team at Baycrest. This is a full-time position that requires a strong educational background in a registered healthcare discipline, with a focus on gerontology and aging care.

Job Description

This role will involve planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and projects that support the goals of the Centre. The ideal candidate will have experience working with interprofessional teams, trainees, leaders, and care partners to assess their current and future learning needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and coordinating in-person and virtual education programs, integrating leading practices, research, and educational technologies into teaching. They will also promote quality of life for people living, working, and studying in aging care settings through person-centred or relationship-centred types of care approaches.

Additional responsibilities include providing implementation and coaching support to leaders and homes, communicating with diverse learners and stakeholders, and participating in ongoing research, evaluation, and innovation activities of the Centre.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in a registered healthcare discipline (preferred) or degree in a registered healthcare discipline with substantive training and education experience.
  • Gerontology and Ontario CLRI Specialized Educator for LTC certificates and project management experience are assets.
  • Three (3) years related experience as an educator.
  • Long-term care and/or aging care experience.
  • Experience working with regulated and unregulated care providers, students, families, volunteers, and clinical leaders.
  • Advanced competencies in gerontological leading practices.
  • Knowledge of the quality and related reporting requirements under the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act, Local Health System Integration Act, and other pertinent legislation and regulations.
