Job Title: Special Needs Educational Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Educational Assistant to join our team at Summit Micro School. As a Special Needs Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with special needs in a classroom setting, providing individualized support and accommodations as needed.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote social, emotional, and academic growth in students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting students with special needs.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students with special needs, helping them to develop self-confidence and self-esteem.
  • Assist with lesson planning and implementation, adapting materials and activities to meet the needs of students with special needs.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. special education, child and youth care, etc.).
  • Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a classroom setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities, with a flexible and patient approach.
  • First aid and CPR certification an asset.
