Job Summary

The Peel District School Board is seeking an Education Assistant to support students with special needs in a grade 1-2 mainstream classroom. The successful candidate will work with students who require physical and developmental support, including those with autism and behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with physical and developmental needs, including toileting, lifting, transferring, feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene.
  • Assisting students with autism and behavioral needs.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and other education staff to develop and implement individualized support plans.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary certification in a relevant field, such as special education or child and youth work.
  • Direct experience working with students with special needs.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical duties of the position, including lifting, transferring, and personal care.

Additional Skills and Assets:

  • School-based experience is an asset.
