Job Description

The successful candidate will lead and manage the planning and delivery of capital projects across Canada, including the development of policies and procedures to ensure quality and maximize on-time delivery. They will monitor performance and manage a geographically diverse team of fifteen to ensure consistency across the portfolio.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and business acumen, as well as a proven ability to engage at senior levels. They will be able to articulate and manage at a conceptual level as well as dive deep into details when required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain annual capital budgets and 5-year plans in coordination with Property Operations and Asset Management.
  • Lead a team that provides support to Property Operations, including contractor management, cost and quality control, and related coordination matters for capital projects undertaken at properties.
  • Lead a team that carries out project management duties, including design, risk analysis, value engineering, and contract administration for major and minor capital improvements.
  • Manage capital approvals, scheduling, and reporting in coordination with internal stakeholders.
  • Manage internal and external environmental technical support for Property Operations, particularly in the field of private water and wastewater.
  • Ensure properties are adequately improved and maintained to manage risk and maximize the useful life of major infrastructure and building components and systems.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators to allow project deliverables to be examined and used to identify and implement process improvements.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and results orientation.
  • Ten years+ progressive years of related experience, including 3-5 years of senior-level management experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technologist preferred.
  • Proven record of successfully overseeing a high volume of major and minor capital projects at multiple properties.
  • Familiar with building and fire codes, environmental legislation, and municipal property standard by-laws.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to navigate multiple demands and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
