Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Strategist

About Us:
Peaskie Minerals Inc. is a leading supplier of domestically sourced proppants and silica flour to the West Central Sedimentary Basin (WCSB). Our facility is strategically located approximately 12 km north of Redwater, offering easy access to major transportation routes.

The Position:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Manager to play a key role in promoting health, safety, and well-being of our workers. As a senior member of our team, you will be responsible for creating a safe, compliant, and sustainable work environment through effective leadership and expertise in OHS programs. You will identify areas for improvement, develop strategies to address them, and implement changes to maintain a high level of employee safety and satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, OH&S legislation, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay up-to-date with all relevant OHS legislation to implement change or update work practices as needed.
- Train employees on best practices to ensure safety while performing day-to-day tasks.
- Conduct safety orientations for new hires and provide ongoing training and support.
- Spend time in the field auditing and inspecting work sites, providing guidance to workers and supervisors.
- Assist supervisors and workers with Health and Safety concerns and hazard identification.
- Develop site-specific and project-specific HSE plans and Emergency Response Plans to support activities being conducted.
- Collaborate with management to establish short- and long-term strategies and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Lead comprehensive incident investigations, establish root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and ensure reporting guidelines are followed.
- Update Health and Safety manuals, codes of practice, safe work procedures, and critical task analysis documentation.
- Enter data required for industry electronic safety programs.
- Attend industry seminars, conferences, and professional development opportunities when requested.

Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related field.
- NCSO certification preferred.
- Standard First Aid certification mandatory.
- CRSP – or working towards, considered an asset.
- Excellent computer skills and experience in database management and record keeping.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel at an intermediate level.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License (current abstract must be provided)

Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in an intermediate to senior OHS role.
- Previous experience in mining and/or manufacturing environments considered an asset.

Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including proper email etiquette.
- Ability to represent the company professionally and courteously.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and listening skills.
- A self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
- Advanced knowledge of OH&S regulations.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office suite of programs.
- Demonstrated skills in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with internal/external individuals.
- Effective time management and organization.
- Demonstrate high standards of ethics and maintain confidential information.

Salary: $137,000 - $145,000 per year.
