Role Overview

Clean Harbors is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Services Specialist to join our team in Red Deer, AB. In this role, you will be responsible for handling, segregating, packing, and inspecting hazardous waste in accordance with Federal/Provincial/Local regulations and our company policies and procedures.

This position involves working both indoors and outdoors at plants, labs, customer sites, and are responsible for assisting with lab packs within customer facilities, household hazardous waste (HHW) collections, and lab moves. As a customer-facing role, you will work at customer sites daily.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
  • Packing and Inspection: Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifest, and land disposal restriction notifications.
  • Inspections and Compliance: Perform inspections of staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance.
  • Drum Inspection: Inspect storage area and drums for leaks or spills.
  • Label Compliance: Inspect drums for compliance with labeling regulations.
  • Waste Collection and Packaging: Collects, segregates, and properly packages waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
  • Customer Projects: Execute jobs at Clean Harbors customer locations, including fortune 500 companies.
  • Project Preparation: Responsible for final preparation and approval of all projects before shipment in accordance with Provincial and Federal environmental and transportation regulations.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Conducts projects/jobs according to site-specific Provincial and Federal regulations and health and safety plans.
  • Customer Understanding: Understand customer-specific disposal restrictions/special packaging requirements.
  • Sampling and Profiling: Sample and profile new waste streams or any waste needing analytical testing.
  • Drum Management: Ensures drum count is correct and that drum conditions are shippable in accordance with our company's policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Valid Class 3 Driver's License
  • Strong Customer Service Skills
  • Physical Abilities: Perform physical functions per job requirements
  • Facial Hair Policy: Clean Shaven for work to wear Respirators
  • Transportation Knowledge: Strong understanding of Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Education: College Degree Preferred
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in Environmental Services (ie remediation, abatement, emergency spill response, etc.)
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive hourly wage of $25-$30 CAD, comprehensive health benefits coverage after 30 days of full-time employment, generous paid time off, company-paid training, and tuition reimbursement.
