Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Library Service Associate to join our team at the Saskatoon Public Library. This is a permanent, part-time position that requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of Library Service Associates, Circulation Associates, and Casuals to ensure efficient and effective delivery of library services.
  • Provide coaching, training, and support to staff to enhance their skills and knowledge, and to promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Plan and manage the workflow of library services, including circulation, reference, and programming, to meet the needs of the community and the library.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that the daily operational needs of the branch are met, and to provide temporary operational oversight in the absence of the Manager, Branches.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve customer service, increase community engagement, and promote library services and programs.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Library and Information Technology diploma or two-year post-secondary education, plus completion of two SPL-approved library-related courses.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in direct supervision of employees, including experience with recruitment, workflow oversight, performance management, and coaching.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to customer service and community engagement.
