About the Role

This full-time position as a Finance Business Partner (FBP) within the Resource Planning group is a highly rewarding opportunity for a professionally designated accountant to make a significant impact on the institution's financial and budget results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Decision Support:
    • Develop and prepare comprehensive financial analysis and reports to inform strategic and operational decision making.
    • Analyze data from various sources to prepare long-range projections and immediate impact assessments.
    • Recommend changes to significant financial projections and estimates.
    • Provide informed reporting to stakeholders by analyzing results and proactively identifying trends and variances.
  • Reporting:
    • Support client areas in their financial planning needs and reporting of financial results.
    • Monitor and communicate changes in accounting standards and provincial reporting requirements.
    • Provide assurance of complex financial information required by internal and external users.
  • Support and Training:
    • Provide expert advice and training on general accounting and best practices.
    • Support and advise business units for the preparation of audit-ready financial statements.
    • Advise on information systems implementation projects regarding accounting-related controls.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Provide expertise related to the interpretation, testing, and impact of all relevant University-wide internal controls and policies.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance gaps are addressed.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • University Bachelor Degree
  • Chartered Professional Accountant Designation (CPA)
  • 6 - 10+ years' experience in finance or accounting
  • Strong experience in managing technology-related controls
  • Excellent financial accounting, forecasting, and budget projection modeling skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel

Compensation and Benefits Package:

Estimated Annual Salary: $96,859-$110,500
