Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer

Equinox Engineering Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned mechanical engineer with 7-15 years of experience in EPCM projects in the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will lead the mechanical team on projects, oversee the design and procurement of mechanical equipment, and ensure compliance with industry codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the mechanical team on projects, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery of mechanical deliverables.
  • Check and approve mechanical engineer deliverables, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Monitor project schedule and budget for all mechanical deliverables, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines to ensure a coordinated design and delivery of projects.
  • Specify, evaluate, and select oil and gas processing equipment, including pipelines, pressure piping, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
  • Provide comprehensive design services, including the preparation of specifications, design computations, drawings, models, and bills of material.
  • Prepare engineering scope of work packages and work with vendors to supply mechanical equipment.
  • Check vendor equipment drawings to ensure design accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Interface with clients, project teams, and vendors to define project scope, resolve technical issues, and assist with procurement documents.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of all major equipment in accordance with industry codes and standards.
Requirements:
  • 7-15 years of experience in EPCM projects in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficient in ASME Sec. VIII code for pressure vessel design, CSA Z662 code for pipeline, ASME B31.3 code for piping, TEMA for heat exchangers, and API for pumps and compressors.
  • Experience with NACE standards and its application.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Package engineering experience is a must-have.
  • Conventional oil, heavy oil, and SAGD or sweet and sour gas project experience is preferred.
Education and Qualifications:
  • APEGA P. Eng. – Mechanical Engineering Degree.
  • Minimum 7 – 15 years of oil and gas experience – EPCM background preferred.
  • Equipment package engineering is a must-have.
  • Excellent working knowledge of static and rotating equipment design.
  • Familiarity with ABSA and AER requirements.
  • Applicable knowledge with codes (CSA, ASME, API).
