Position Overview:
Equinox Engineering Ltd is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead to oversee and guide our mechanical engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Possess 7-15 years of experience in Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Management (EPCM) within the Oil and Gas sector, specifically in a leadership capacity.
- Direct and manage the mechanical engineering team throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and authorize deliverables produced by other mechanical engineers.
- Track project timelines and financials related to all mechanical outputs.
- Collaborate with various engineering disciplines (including process, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, and automation) to ensure cohesive design integration.
- Specify, assess, and select equipment for oil and gas processing, including pipelines, pressure piping, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
- Deliver comprehensive design services by establishing design criteria and preparing specifications, calculations, drawings, models, and material lists in line with project requirements.
- Develop engineering scope of work packages and liaise with vendors for mechanical equipment procurement.
- Evaluate vendor equipment drawings to confirm design accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Engage with clients, project teams, and vendors to clarify project scope, resolve technical challenges, and assist in the preparation of procurement documents.
- Ensure the consistency and integrity of all major equipment in compliance with relevant codes and specifications.
- Demonstrate proficiency in ASME Sec. VIII for pressure vessel design, CSA Z662 for pipelines, ASME B31.3 for piping, TEMA for heat exchangers, and API standards for pumps and compressors.
- Have experience with NACE standards and their application.
Essential Skills:
- Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities.
- Experience in Package Engineering is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Preferred experience in conventional oil, heavy oil, SAGD, or sweet and sour gas projects.
- Knowledgeable in the specification and procurement of various types of mechanical equipment (both static and rotating) and packages.
Qualifications:
- Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 7-15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a preference for EPCM background.
- Experience in Equipment Package Engineering is mandatory.
- Strong working knowledge of static and rotating equipment design.
- Familiarity with ABSA and AER requirements is necessary.
- Applicable knowledge of relevant codes (CSA, ASME, API) is essential.
