Job Title: Employment and Training Manager

Reports to: Band Manager

This role will oversee the operation and management of employment and training services for Tsawout First Nation. Key responsibilities include developing training programs, managing finances and human resources, and ensuring services are responsive to community needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Relationship with Community, Leadership, and Band Administration:
    • Provide recommendations to the Band Manager on employment and training needs.
    • Maintain regular communication with the community to keep members aware of training and employment opportunities.
    • Ensure employment and training services are responsive to changing community circumstances.
    • Organize community surveys with the Education Manager to understand training needs and obtain feedback.
    • Prepare reports for the Band Manager on a regular basis, maintaining awareness of funding changes through ISETS and provincial programs.
  • Departmental Organization and Staff Management:
    • Lead by example, demonstrating fairness, respect, and integrity in leadership.
    • Resolve conflicts between diverse groups of workers.
    • Ensure proper training and staff discipline, promoting professional development and resolving labour issues.
  • External Partnerships and New Funding:
    • Seek new funding sources for literacy and training by participating in proposal writing.
    • Develop long-term relationships with local employers and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma (post-secondary experience/degree in business administration or related field is an asset).
  • Preference given to individuals with 5+ years of employment and training management experience.
  • Knowledge of SȾÁUTW̱ First Nation or W̱SÁNEC Nation culture, language, and history is an asset.
