About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Laboratory Technologist I to join our team at the Royal Columbian Hospital. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, including sample collection, testing, and result analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and process laboratory samples from patients, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Perform laboratory tests and procedures, adhering to established protocols and quality control measures.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including test results and quality control data.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest laboratory techniques and technologies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Assist with quality control and quality assurance activities, including instrument maintenance and calibration.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
  • One year recent related experience in the designated discipline within the last six years, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports, and to analyze data and results.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing, walking, and lifting.
