Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technologist II to join our team in the Core Laboratory. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, including routine and additional procedures. You will also be responsible for collecting specimens, performing maintenance on equipment, and ensuring that quality control standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and additional laboratory procedures, including specimen collection and testing.
  • Perform maintenance on laboratory equipment and report any malfunctions to the Section Head.
  • Ensure that quality control standards are met and report any problems to the Section Head.
  • Collect and process specimens for testing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a recognized school of Medical Technology, plus a minimum of one year's recent, related experience.
  • Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Certified.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize workload assignments and set priorities.
  • Ability to develop and present educational material.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
