About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Coordinator, Compliance and Training to join our team at First Transit Canada. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety training programs for drivers and other employees, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement safety policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company goals.
  • Provide training and support to drivers and other employees on safety procedures and protocols, including defensive driving techniques and accident prevention strategies.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Develop and maintain safety statistics and reports, providing insights and recommendations to management on safety improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate safety information and updates to employees and management, ensuring a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of safety-related policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Class 2 driver's license and experience in safety training and compliance an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and employee safety.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.
  • Bilingualism an asset.
