Strategic Conflict Management Leader

This senior role is accountable for providing conflict management expertise to the campus community and leading the development, management, and assessment of the Conflict Management Office (CMO) at the University of Waterloo.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading the CMO and its programs and functions, ensuring alignment with the University's strategic plan and statutory obligations.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to manage conflicts and complaints, promoting a campus culture of respect and compassion.
  • Providing expert direction and leadership on conflict and human rights-related issues, offering guidance to senior leaders and deans on their obligations.
  • Collaborating with academic support units to offer seamless prevention and response efforts related to statutory obligations.
  • Maintaining coordinated, integrated, and high-performing programs and services within the unit.

Salary: $123,456 per year, depending on experience. The University of Waterloo offers a competitive compensation package, including benefits and opportunities for professional development.

Requirements:
  • A Master's degree in a related field, such as Law.
  • Trained in trauma-informed practice or willing to participate in training.
  • Direct management experience, supervising direct reports.
  • Demonstrated leadership in strategic and tactical thinking, weighing risks and applying sound judgment.
  • Experience assessing complex cases to identify institutional risks and offering guidance to mitigate risks.
