Job Summary:
The Mental Health Worker – Transition House – Part Time will provide support and guidance to residents in a residential human service setting. This role requires a strong understanding of mental health programs, mental illness, and psychiatric medication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assist residents with daily living tasks, including cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.
- Teach and monitor safety protocols to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Provide accurate and detailed feedback to the program team regarding on-site visits.
- Monitor resident medication protocol and educate residents on healthy habits.
- Apply crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques as needed.
- Work with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and monitor resident goals and plans.
- Plan and encourage resident participation in education, support, and social programs.
- Provide feedback to physicians, family, and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Support the Crisis phone line and complete required documentation.
Qualifications:
- Two-year community college diploma in a Human Service program.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Current First Aid certification.
Experience:
- Previous employment in a residential human service setting.
- Extensive knowledge of mental health programs, mental illness, and psychiatric medication.
- Assessment, communication, and crisis intervention skills.
- Effective social rehabilitation skills.
Requirements:
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain successful working relationships and interact with people in a professional manner.
- Behaviour consistent with Hospital Mission, ICCARE Values, and Standards of Performance.
