Job Summary:

The Mental Health Worker – Transition House – Part Time will provide support and guidance to residents in a residential human service setting. This role requires a strong understanding of mental health programs, mental illness, and psychiatric medication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assist residents with daily living tasks, including cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.
  • Teach and monitor safety protocols to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Provide accurate and detailed feedback to the program team regarding on-site visits.
  • Monitor resident medication protocol and educate residents on healthy habits.
  • Apply crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques as needed.
  • Work with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and monitor resident goals and plans.
  • Plan and encourage resident participation in education, support, and social programs.
  • Provide feedback to physicians, family, and the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Support the Crisis phone line and complete required documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Two-year community college diploma in a Human Service program.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Current First Aid certification.

Experience:

  • Previous employment in a residential human service setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of mental health programs, mental illness, and psychiatric medication.
  • Assessment, communication, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Effective social rehabilitation skills.

Requirements:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain successful working relationships and interact with people in a professional manner.
  • Behaviour consistent with Hospital Mission, ICCARE Values, and Standards of Performance.
