Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Sault Area Hospital. As a Behavioral Supports Specialist, you will provide holistic nursing care to older adults with mental health, dementia, and substance use issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process and standards of practice.
  • Develop and implement standardized protocols to support individuals with responsive behaviors in the community and long-term care settings.
  • Make recommendations for care and participate in data collection for statistical and research purposes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, community agencies, and family members to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in the implementation of evidence-based best practices in dementia, delirium, mental health, and substance use.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent applied clinical experience working with older adults with mental health, dementia, and substance use issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of geriatric mental health and specialized dementia care, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological best practice principles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • Excellent understanding of community resources and ability to liaise with referral sources and other agencies.
  • Knowledge of PIECES, GPA, U-First, and Montessori practices.
