Key Responsibilities- Estimating and Quantity Take-Offs: Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and estimates of probable costs of materials, labor, and equipment, and subcontracts for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
- Project Management: Independently manage small to medium-size projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.
- Tendering and Procurement: Advise on tendering procedures, examine, and analyze tenders and recommend tender awards. Cost value procurement of materials, equipment, and labor and current market value assessment.
- Supplier and Contractor Management: Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. Maintain good relationships and create new ones with trades, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Communication and Liaison: Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Estimate and Proposal Preparation: Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner for Stipulated Price, Design-Build, and Construction/Project Management formatted projects.
- Subcontractor Management: Organize and analyze sub-contractors quotations, negotiate to insure quotes meet contract documents, and issue proper documented purchase orders.
- Trade Contractor Management: Effective ability to communicate and instigate action from trade contractors in furnishing documentation, managing RFI's, and scheduling work.
- Contract Knowledge: Strong working knowledge and proficiency in delivering projects using CCA 5, CCDC 2, CCDC 3, CCDC 5a, and CCDC 14 Prime Contracts. Creating and administering CCA 1 & CCA 17 Sub-Contracts.
- Education: University or college degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management program.
- Experience: 3-5 years experience with construction estimating. Previous experience in estimating ICI construction projects in the Canadian Market is a must.
- Skills: Experience with estimating software and spreadsheet design. Familiar with AutoCAD architecture & Revit is considered an asset.
- Personal Qualities: Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Exceptional communication skills. Must understand engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and construction practices and use this knowledge efficiently on a day-to-day basis as projects and budget preparations progress. Must be capable of understanding agreements and RFPs.
