Construction Estimator Role

We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team at Baycrest Project & Construction Management. As a leading construction company in the GTA, we specialize in industrial, commercial, and institutional projects and are driven by a deep commitment to our work.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. This includes conducting detailed quantity take-offs to ensure all materials, labor, and equipment needs are fully accounted for. You will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, architects, and suppliers to develop estimates that align with project specifications and goals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong proficiency in conducting detailed quantity take-offs using industry-standard software such as Planswift, Bluebeam, or similar. You will also have excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen eye for detail. Additionally, you will have strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects.
  2. Conduct detailed quantity take-offs to ensure all materials, labor, and equipment needs are fully accounted for.
  3. Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, architects, and suppliers to develop estimates that align with project specifications and goals.
  4. Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and ensure dependable performance across all projects.
Requirements
  1. Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Construction Estimator, preferably with a general contractor in the GTA.
  2. Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  3. Strong proficiency in conducting detailed quantity take-offs using industry-standard software such as Planswift, Bluebeam, or similar.
  4. Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Sage, Procore, or other platforms).
  5. Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and codes relevant to residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
  6. Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  7. Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, plans, and specifications with accuracy.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with subcontractors and the project team.
  9. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  10. Knowledge of Ontario building regulations and local market conditions.
