Lead Legislative Innovation in Alberta's Tax System

The Government of Alberta is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Director, Legislation at Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA). As a key member of the TRA team, you will play a crucial role in shaping Alberta's tax legislation and driving changes that improve government operations and stakeholder experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage legislative changes and regulatory updates across all tax programs administered by TRA.
  • Collaborate with tax policy, legislative counsel, and external stakeholders to develop and implement tax legislation.
  • Develop and update TRA's policy manual, negotiate inter-jurisdictional agreements, and provide legislative advice.
  • Support TRA's mission by resolving complex tax objections and delivering technical training.
Requirements
  • University degree in a related field, such as commerce or public administration, plus a professional accounting designation or law degree.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with the legislative process and Alberta tax legislation.
  • Knowledge of administrative law and accounting.
  • Experience managing complex projects while meeting tight deadlines.
