The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legislative Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our Legislative Counsel Office, you will play a critical role in drafting high-quality government legislation and providing expert advice to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert legislative drafting services to the Government of Alberta and its Ministries
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of legislative drafting principles and practices
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address legislative needs and priorities
- Develop and implement effective legislative drafting strategies and processes
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior legislative drafters
- Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation and regulatory policies
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in legislative drafting, preferably in a government or parliamentary setting
- Strong understanding of legislative drafting principles and practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Graduate diploma or professional certificate in Legislative drafting
- Experience in a leadership role in a legislative counsel office
- Experience mentoring and coaching other legislative drafters
- Experience dealing with multiple complex files
