Director, Data and Analytics

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Data and Analytics to join our team at Alberta Innovates. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading our data strategy and driving business outcomes through data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Communicate Strategic Plans: Develop and communicate strategic plans for data and analytics initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, priorities, and business plan.
- Lead Data Management Technologies: Lead the implementation and operation of data management technologies, prioritizing data integrity, security, and accessibility.
- Drive Organizational Change: Drive organizational change towards a data-driven culture by promoting awareness and adoption of data and analytics capabilities.
- Establish Strong Relationships: Establish strong relationships with stakeholders, gaining buy-in for initiatives and fostering collaboration across departments.
- Provide Leadership: Provide leadership to the data organization, overseeing governance, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts to optimize data practices and drive tangible business outcomes.
- Post-Secondary Education: A post-secondary education from a recognized institution in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related program.
- Leadership Experience: 10+ years of experience in progressively responsible roles within data management, analytics, corporate reporting, business intelligence, or related fields.
- Leadership Skills: 5+ years of experience in leadership positions, with demonstrated leadership in areas such as data analysis, business intelligence, data engineering, or data governance.
- Technical Skills: A proficiency in modern data management principles (ex. Mesh, fabric), analytics methodologies, and relevant tools and technologies.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making.
