AIMCo is looking for a Director to lead the Data Analytics & Insights function within the Internal Audit department. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to shape the future of data analytics and insights at AIMCo and to contribute to the organization's strategic objectives and risk management.

As the Director, Data Analytics & Insights, you will leverage your expertise in advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and robotics process automation to provide innovative and data-driven solutions to complex business problems and to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of internal audit activities. You will also build and lead a high-performing team of data scientists and analysts, foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, and collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization and externally.

The successful incumbent will be a senior leader within the Internal Audit department with a mandate of providing innovation and insights on the operations, strategy and evolving risk profile of AIMCo by deploying Advanced Analytics (AA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Robotics Process Automation (RPA).

Responsibilities:
  • Set strategic priorities to embed predictive, prescriptive and cognitive analytics into Internal Audits assurance services and enterprise-wide risk insights for the Audit Committee.
  • Design and build continuous risk monitoring and predictive analytic tools to enhance audit efficiency and risk evaluation, including interconnected and ESG risks.
  • Lead the development and execution of prototypes and products from an advanced analytics and data science perspective, including enterprise level data models and algorithms for financial market and ESG modeling.
  • Build a team of impactful Data Science and advanced analytics resources, determine priorities, provide development and growth opportunities and champion team across the organization.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, automation, agility and experimentation, and develop/communicate a value proposition and case for change.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with senior management, internal and external stakeholders, including external auditors, and consultants.
  • Identify, articulate and uncover interconnectedness of deep data driven insights, and crystalize the implications, consequences, and inter-relationship between policies, business objectives and risk.
  • Perform data analysis to provide meaningful and insightful reporting to the Audit Committee to inform decisions and respond to audits, investigations and special mandates.
Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or doctorate in Financial Mathematics, Physics, Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science or Actuarial Science
  • Completion of CPA, CIA, CFA, PRM, FRM, CFE Designations or international equivalent audit or risk management designations would be highly advantageous
  • 15+ years of experience in compliance and operational risk, reporting, analytics, or modeling
  • 10+ years of experience in advanced analytics
  • 7+ years of experience in the leading analytics reporting function
  • Proven experience in functionally driving analytics and reporting programs
  • Experience in internal audit or internal controls within the financial services sector or a global organization
  • Expert understanding of the investment lifecycle and proven track record of building analytical products for investment funds
  • Knowledge of Institute of Internal Auditors Professional Standards
  • Expert background in analytical modeling, ML and AI techniques
  • Expert knowledge of data model development and data domain methodologies as well as
  • Expert understanding of regulatory requirements in data science and AI fields
  • Expert understanding of statistics and time series analysis
  • Demonstrated experience designing, estimating and implementing risk-related statistical models
  • Expert knowledge of various statistical and data mining software skills including SAS, R, Python, etc.
  • Expert ability to translate business objectives and strategies into actionable business solutions using Advanced Analytics
  • Familiarity with logistic regression, multivariate analysis and Monte Carlo analysis
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent time management, communication, critical thinking and organizational skills
  • Initiative, drive and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Success Measures:

Success for the first year will be to create and execute a visionary roadmap for AA and AI, with a focus on delivering high-value outcomes and addressing the needs of technology, systems architecture, data governance, people, and other foundational elements aligned to approved initiatives and AIMCo wide strategic priorities.

Another success factor is to lead the integration of data analytics into IAG annual audit plan and on individual engagements and departmental processes and to build and lead a team of talented and driven Data Science and advanced analytics resources, setting clear priorities, providing development and growth opportunities and championing team across the organization.
