Regional Radiation Safety Officer, Nuclear Medicine Specialist

Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Regional Radiation Safety Officer, Nuclear Medicine to join our Medical Imaging Quality & Safety Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Nuclear Medicine Radiation Safety Program, ensuring compliance with Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) regulations and provincial and federal laws.
- Develop and implement radiation safety policies, procedures, and training programs for staff, patients, and visitors.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, experts, and stakeholders to ensure radiation safety standards are met.
- Provide leadership and guidance to site radiation safety officers, regional radiation safety coordinators, and the radiation safety committee.
- Investigate and resolve radiation safety incidents, and provide quarterly updates on the Nuclear Medicine Radiation Protection Program.
- Liaise with operations directors, managers, and supervisors to ensure radiation safety is integrated into daily operations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Five years' recent experience in radiation safety, leadership, and handling radioactive materials, including experience in managing and auditing radiation safety programs.
- Completion of a Radiation Safety Officer course from a recognized program.
- Eligibility for professional designation (e.g., CRPA).
- Valid BC Driver's License.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Excellent verbal communication skills to provide training, education, and program reports.
- Technical expertise in radiation safety, legislation, and regulatory bodies.
- Sound judgment to investigate and resolve radiation safety issues.
- Ability to maintain current knowledge of radiation safety developments and research.
- Intermediate level word-processing, presentation, and spreadsheet skills.
