Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Radiological Technologist to join our Computed Tomography team at Lions Gate Hospital.
In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using both computed tomography (CT) and nuclear medicine techniques. Your expertise will contribute to the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients within our healthcare system.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct CT scans and nuclear medicine procedures according to established protocols, ensuring patient safety and adherence to radiation protection guidelines.
- Manage patient interactions throughout the examination process, including receiving requisitions, entering data into the Radiology Information System, preparing patients for procedures, and providing clear instructions.
- Operate and maintain CT imaging equipment and nuclear medicine devices, processing and archiving acquired images effectively.
- Monitor patient well-being during procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety. Perform routine quality control tests on imaging equipment to guarantee optimal performance.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols for handling radioactive materials, including proper disposal of contaminated items according to established guidelines.
Your Qualifications:
- Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine is essential.
- Completion of a recognized advanced specialty CT program and one year of recent experience in both CT and nuclear medicine, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Successful completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course as required by site practice.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification at the Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.
Your Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Imaging standards and guidelines established by CAMRT and other relevant organizations.
- Proficiency in operating CT imaging equipment and nuclear medicine devices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, colleagues, and physicians.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of patient care.
