Position: Nuclear Medicine Technologist - PET Imaging Specialist
Organization: PHSA
Location: Multiple BC Cancer centres

Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive clinical PET/CT imaging, which includes selecting the suitable imaging protocol, accurately positioning patients, conducting image acquisition, and performing data reconstruction, ultimately presenting the final image dataset for physician analysis.
- Prepare patients for the scanning process by thoroughly explaining the procedure, addressing any questions, and securing informed consent prior to commencement.
- Conduct technical duties, including correlating clinical history with the imaging examination, recording baseline vital signs, establishing venous access for radiotracer administration, and monitoring blood glucose levels before radiotracer injection.
- Ensure patient safety throughout procedures by monitoring vital signs and observing for any signs of distress, responding to emergencies as per facility protocols, which may include performing CPR if necessary.
- Operate PET and associated CT equipment in compliance with established standards and procedures.
Qualifications
- Certification from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine.
- A minimum of three years of recent experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Completion of formal education in PET/CT, such as the CAMRT PET/CT certificate program or equivalent training/experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Familiarity with Nuclear Medicine procedures, radiopharmacy, and radiation safety protocols.
- Proficiency in operating PET/CT cameras and related software applications.
- Understanding of research methodologies and processes.
- Strong patient care skills applicable to diverse age groups.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment and clinical information systems.
