Job Title: Legal Counsel, Commercial Law

Foresters Financial is seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide expert legal support and advice to our organization, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality legal advice and support to our business units, ensuring compliance with commercial law and regulations.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement effective legal strategies to mitigate risks and achieve business objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide legal guidance and support.
  • Manage external legal resources and vendors to ensure efficient and effective legal services.
Requirements:
  • 5-12 years of experience in commercial law, with a strong background in contract law, corporate governance, and litigation management.
  • Subject matter expertise in two or more areas of law, with a strong understanding of Fraternal Benefit Societies laws.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in legal research and technology, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify potential sources of significant exposure, consequences, and risk mitigants.
