Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial Law Specialist to join our team at Foresters Financial. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide expert legal support and advice to our organization, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality legal services to various departments within Foresters Financial, including procurement, commercial contracts, general corporate commercial advice, litigation management, insurance, and employment law.
  • Conduct thorough legal research, identify potential risks and issues, and develop effective strategies to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with external counsel and paralegals to manage legal files and matters, ensuring timely and cost-effective resolution.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to internal clients on legal and business research resources, seminars, and presentations.
  • Stay up-to-date with statutory developments and evolving jurisprudence, applying this knowledge to provide expert advice and guidance.
Requirements
  • 5-12 years of legal experience, with a strong background in commercial law.
  • Subject matter expertise in two or more areas of law.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage working partnerships with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in technology, legal research, and concise memo drafting.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues to non-legal professionals and identify potential sources of significant exposure, consequences, and risk mitigants.
