Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial Law

Foresters Financial Services, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial Law to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide expert legal support and advice to our organization, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice and support to our business units, including procurement and commercial contracts, general corporate advice, and litigation management.
  • Conduct legal research and identify potential risks and issues, formulating and recommending strategies and solutions.
  • Manage external and internal legal resources, including needs analysis, resource allocation, and project monitoring.
  • Develop and deliver a program for internal client development and education, promoting law department resources and maximizing efficiency.
  • Collaborate with our business units to understand and meet their legal obligations, providing effective communication and collaboration skills.
Requirements:
  • Five to twelve years of legal experience, with a subject matter expert in two or more areas of law.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues to non-legal professionals and identify potential sources of significant exposure, consequences, and risk mitigants.
  • Proficient with technology, legal research, and concise memo drafting.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and direction, with a creative and adaptable approach.
