Production Operations Manager

Job Summary:
The Production Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production team, ensuring the highest level of production safety, quality, efficiency, and output. This role involves planning shift activities, assigning targets, and monitoring batch processing operations to meet production schedule requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Shift Planning and Management: Plan and coordinate shift activities, assign targets, and monitor progress to ensure efficient and safe production operations.
- Batch Processing Operations: Manage and monitor batch processing operations, ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
- Safety and Quality: Promote a "Safety First" culture, ensuring adherence to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) procedures and legislative requirements.
- Incident Reporting and Analysis: Investigate and report safety incidents or near misses, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive measures.
- Leadership and Team Management: Lead daily site meetings, work with cross-functional teams, and provide leadership to the production team through performance management, mentoring, recruitment, coaching, training, and corrective actions.
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs): Ensure GMPs are followed by staff, using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and conducting GMP and skills training as required.
- Audit Readiness: Endorse a culture of "Audit Readiness," driving positive compliance ratings for regulatory, customer, corporate, and internal audits.
- Continuous Improvement: Initiate change controls, deviations, and planned deviations, conducting investigations and executing CAPAs to stimulate an environment where problems are proactively identified and addressed.
- Equipment Maintenance and Record Keeping: Maintain production equipment, ensuring it is well-maintained and inspected prior to use, and initiate maintenance repairs by issuing Maintenance Workorders.
- Time and Attendance Management: Manage the shifts time and attendance management system, ensuring accuracy of hours, vacation requests, and timely approvals for payroll processing.
- Training and Development: Review training documents for completeness, identify gaps in training assessments, and close identified gaps to ensure the production team has the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Departmental KPIs: Own and report departmental KPIs (safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, labor utilization, downtime, schedule adherence) with Senior Leadership team.
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Participate in inter-departmental/cross-functional meetings, contributing to the implementation and success of continuous improvement initiatives and/or client-driven projects.
- Cost Savings Initiatives: Actively contribute to all cost-saving initiatives in the production department, focusing on industry best practices and adherence to departmental objectives.
