Organizes shift operations and allocates targets to all team members to achieve optimal levels of production safety, quality, efficiency, output, labor effectiveness, cleanliness, and adherence to production timelines. Oversees and evaluates batch processing activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across various operational units, including the handling of liquids/solids, distillation, filtration, sampling, and sanitation. Promotes a 'Safety First' culture by ensuring compliance with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols and regulatory requirements among the production workforce. Guarantees timely reporting of all safety incidents or near misses, conducts root cause analyses, and ensures that corrective and preventive actions are implemented as per agreed timelines. Facilitates daily site meetings in collaboration with cross-functional teams, aims for weekly/monthly production goals, and ensures effective scheduling and execution. Ensures that batches are produced safely and efficiently, adhering to instructions in master batch records, with a focus on achieving weekly/monthly production targets, on-time-in-full (OTIF) delivery, and customer schedules. Provides leadership to the production team through activities such as performance management, mentoring, recruitment, coaching, training, and corrective actions. Ensures adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) by staff through effective utilization of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensures all personnel complete necessary GMP and skills training. Ensures that all GMP documentation, including but not limited to batch records, cleaning logs, and logbooks, are accurately completed, thoroughly reviewed, and support the 'Right First Time' performance objective. Advocates for a culture of audit readiness and drives positive compliance ratings for regulatory audits, customer assessments, corporate reviews, and internal audits. Represents the production team during audits and customer evaluations. Initiates change controls, deviations, and planned deviations, and conducts investigations related to non-conformances. Ensures that corrective and preventive actions are executed effectively and fosters an environment where issues are proactively identified and resolved. Maintains comprehensive records related to production equipment, cleaning, and processes. Ensures production equipment is properly maintained and inspected prior to use, and initiates maintenance requests while following up on their timely completion. Manages the shift's time and attendance system, ensuring accuracy in hours worked, vacation requests, and timely approvals for payroll processing. Reviews training documentation for onboarding and skill development, identifies any gaps in training assessments, and addresses these gaps effectively. Envisions the team's learning objectives, future competencies, and training needs, facilitating the execution of training plans through motivation and constructive feedback. Monitors process performance, identifies gaps, and takes the lead in reviewing master batch records and training for involved personnel. Owns and reports departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, labor utilization, downtime, and schedule adherence to the Senior Leadership team. Participates in inter-departmental and cross-functional meetings with key stakeholders, contributing to the implementation and success of continuous improvement initiatives and client-driven projects. Leads Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence projects to support employee development, process enhancements, increased equipment uptime, optimized cleaning practices, production efficiencies, and yield improvements using methodologies such as LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma. Actively engages in all cost-saving initiatives within the production department, focusing on industry best practices and alignment with departmental objectives.
