Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Planning team as a Planning Intern. This is a temporary full-time position that will provide valuable experience and skills in municipal land use planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Planning staff with development applications and public meetings
  • Conduct research and analysis on various aspects of municipal land use planning functions
  • Support special projects, process improvements, and reports
  • Provide front counter customer service and assist development stakeholders
  • Analyze data and metrics to inform planning decisions
  • Prepare online public information, visualizations, or other engagement tools

Requirements

  • College or University student enrolled in a related discipline
  • Strong computer skills, with preference given to knowledge in design software, GIS, and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Understanding of how a municipality functions
  • Ability to visualize concepts and turn them into workable solutions
  • Excellent listening skills and a desire to learn new concepts
  • Good time management, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
