Supervisor, Development Planning

**About the Position**

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Supervisor, Development Planning to join our team at Norfolk County. This permanent full-time position is responsible for overseeing and managing the development planning process, providing professional advice to staff, Council, and external agencies, and acting as a Chair to various committees.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Oversight of the development planning process including applications and submissions from inception through to public hearings and recommendation reports to Council.
  • Provides expert advice to staff, Council, Committee, and agencies on a wide range of development planning matters.
  • Reviews reports of Planners and prepares reports as necessary for Committee of Adjustment, Public Hearing Committee, and Council meetings.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Planning to act as Chair to the Site Plan Review Committee and Pre-consultation Meetings.
  • Assists in finalizing requirements for complete applications.
  • Provides technical support and advice to other divisions as required.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in Planning or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive municipal development planning experience, including coaching and supervisory experience.
  • Registration as a Professional Planner and membership in good standing with the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute.
  • Experience working with the Ontario Land Tribunal and/or requiring professional credibility.


About You

You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated by your ability to establish and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization, members of Council, internal and external stakeholders, government bodies, and the public. You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prepare and review complex planning application-related staff reports, bylaws, and development agreements. A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are also required.

**Benefits and Salary**

The estimated salary for this position is $115,000 - $135,000 per year, depending on experience.
